New Delhi, July 2 (H.S.): Former Union Minister and Kerala BJP President Rajeev Chandrasekhar criticized Congress for seeking support from Jamaat-e-Islami during the Nilambur by-elections, resulting in their victory. He highlighted the contradiction of Congress members who advocate for secularism while aligning with what he deemed anti-national and undemocratic forces.

He referred to Jamaat-e-Islami, established in 1941, as an organization historically considered dangerous and opposed to secularism and democracy. Despite past condemnations from Congress leaders, including a 2018 court statement labeling Jamaat-e-Islami as very dangerous, the party formed an open alliance with them in Wayanad for the first time.

Chandrasekhar argued that Congress's desperation to win has led them to normalize relationships with such groups, undermining constitutional values. He pointed out that the recent Nilambur election falls within the constituency of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, bringing to light Congress's opportunistic politics. He claimed that while Congress accuses BJP of being communal, it is Congress and its allies that engage with anti-democratic organizations, ultimately disregarding the Constitution.
