Chandigarh, July 2 (H.S.): Lakhwinder Singh, a 55-year-old man injured in a drone strike during heightened India-Pakistan tensions, passed away late last night at DMC Hospital, Ludhiana, two months after the incident. His wife died during the attack on May 9 when a Pakistani drone struck their home in Khai Pheme, Punjab. Lakhwinder sustained severe burns over 70% of his body and was being treated in Ludhiana. The couple's son, Jaswant, also suffered injuries, and animals in their courtyard were affected by the fire.

The medical board conducted a post-mortem before handing Lakhwinder's body over to the family on Wednesday. The heightened tensions followed India’s Operation Sindoor on May 7, which prompted retaliatory attacks from Pakistan.
