Delhi, 2 July (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Accra for a State Visit to Ghana, greeted with a ceremonial welcome by President John Dramani Mahama. This visit marks the first in three decades, highlighting the strong friendship between India and Ghana. It aims to deepen bilateral ties and reinforces India's commitment to engaging with Africa and Global South Partners.

He was greeted by a group of young Ghanaian children chanting “Hare Rama Hare Krishn,” reflecting the cultural ties between India and Ghana. At Kotoka International Airport, PM Modi received a guard of honour and a traditional reception. A musical performance was held at his hotel in honor of his visit, highlighting the significance of the occasion.

During this two-day visit, PM Modi aims to strengthen India’s partnership with Ghana, a pivotal player in the Global South and significant member of the African Union and ECOWAS. He expressed hopes of enhancing cooperation in investment, energy, health, security, and development partnerships, emphasizing the vibrancy of both nations' democracies. Meetings with Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama are planned to review the robust bilateral relationship with an emphasis on economic, defense, and energy collaboration.

After Ghana, PM Modi’s tour will continue to Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil for the BRICS summit, and Namibia, aiming to enhance India’s global engagement.
