New Delhi, July 2 (H.S.): The Delhi High Court has ordered the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) to consult all stakeholders regarding the approval of weight-loss drugs sold in the market. Chief Justice DK Upadhyay emphasized the need for the DCGI to address concerns raised in a petition filed by Jitendra Choukse, which argues that licenses for weight-loss compositions were granted without sufficient data or proper testing.
The court instructed the DCGI to engage with experts and drug manufacturers and directed the petitioner to submit a report with their views within two weeks. The petition highlighted potential serious adverse health effects linked to these drugs and cited a previous report submitted to the central government and DCGI on April 18.
