New Delhi, July 2 (H.S.): BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh criticized the Bhagwant Mann government in Punjab, stating that an undeclared emergency is in place to silence the opposition. Following the detention of former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal and other Akali leaders in Mohali, Chugh accused the government of using draconian laws at the behest of Arvind Kejriwal to deny the opposition its democratic right to protest and voice dissent. He highlighted that peaceful demonstrations are no longer permitted, illustrating the oppressive nature of the Kejriwal-led Punjab government.

Furthermore, he referenced past threats made by Aam Aadmi Party leaders against opposition figures in the Punjab Assembly, labeling this a dangerous trend for democracy. Chugh likened Kejriwal to a dictatorial version of Indira Gandhi, claiming he has turned Punjab into a prison, targeting the opposition to mask the government's failures and avoid necessary action against criminal elements in the state.
