Bangalore, 02 July (H.S.) : The Karnataka government has filfiled a review petition in the High Court challenging the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) order that had quashed the government order suspending Additional Commissioner of Police Vikas Kumar in connection with the RCB stampede tragedy.
Advocate General Shashikaran Shetty requested the bench of Justice S.G. Pandit to hear the petition challenging the CAT order at the earliest. The bench, considering this point, said it will hear the petition tomorrow (Thursday).
11 people had died in the stampede near the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium during the RCB victory celebrations on 04 June 2025.
The government, which had blamed the incident on police negligence, had ordered the suspension of Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayanand, the petitioner officer Vikas Kumar and others. Vikas Kumar had challenged the state government's suspension orders in the CAT.
The CAT, which heard the petition, quashed the government's suspension order and directed that the petitioner be immediately reinstated to the same post with due benefits.
