- Review meeting of infrastructure projects of Assam
Guwahati/New Delhi, 2 July (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday met Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and reviewed the progress of important infrastructure projects going on in the state. The meeting was held at the official residence of the Union Minister.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister appealed to the ministry for cooperation for the timely implementation of the ongoing national highway projects in the state. On this, Union Minister Gadkari assured that his ministry would give priority to Assam's projects to increase the connectivity of the Northeast region, strengthen trade routes and accelerate economic development.
Later on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the Chief Minister wrote, Had a fruitful meeting with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi today. Reviewed the progress of key infrastructure projects of Assam and sought support from his Ministry for their timely completion. The Minister has assured full support of the Ministry in this direction.
Union Minister Gadkari also shared information on X and wrote, Reviewed the ongoing National Highway projects in Assam with Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and senior officials in Delhi today. These projects will boost regional connectivity in the Northeast region, improve trade routes and accelerate economic growth.
Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Dr KK Dwivedi and senior officials of the Ministry of Road Transport were present in the meeting.
Earlier, the Chief Minister met a delegation of ICICI Foundation and ICICI Bank at his residence. During this, discussions were held on strengthening and expanding the ongoing CSR initiatives in Assam and increasing credit access for micro credit recipients.
Apart from this, Jayesh Saini, Chairman of Lifecare Limited also met the Chief Minister and shared the outline of the company's upcoming plans and investments in the health sector of Assam. It is noteworthy that this Kenya-based company had signed an MoU in the health sector during the Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit held in Guwahati in February.
