Imphal, 1 July (HS): Security forces in Manipur have arrested cadres belonging to three different outfits - PREPAK (Pro), KCP (PWG) and UNLF (P) - in a major action. The arrests were made from Thoubal and Imphal East districts. Weapons, documents, mobiles, vehicles and cash were recovered during the search.
In the first arrest, 19-year-old Khundongbam Kalambia Singh alias Atomba, resident of Harok Part-2, Bazar, associated with PREPAK (Pro) outfit, was caught from Charangpat Mamang Lekai in Thoubal police station area. He was involved in extortion, threats, kidnapping and other subversive activities from the general public. 36 HE hand grenades, one mobile phone, one SIM card and a black Bajaj Pulsar bike were recovered from him.
In the second action, KCP (PWG) rebel Mutum Dinesh Singh (38), resident of Yairipok Nungbrang Makha Leikai, Imphal East, was arrested from Lairongthel Pitra (near primary school) under Nongpok Sekmai police station area of Thoubal district. He was involved in extortion, kidnapping and recruitment of new cadres for the outfit.
Two mobile phones and two SIM cards, three ATM cards, documents - PAN card, Aadhaar card, driving license and ₹450 cash were recovered from him.
The third arrest is linked to the UNLF (P) outfit. Khangembam Bishal Singh (19) alias Pakhpa alias Lainingthou, resident of Phougakchao Ikhai Bazar, Torbung (Bishnupur district) was arrested from Khurai Kongpal Thoubandong under Porompat police station area of Imphal East. He was involved in settling cases related to land disputes, crimes against women and loan recovery through 'kangaroo courts'. Items recovered from him include a white Mahindra Bolero (without registration number), three mobile phones and ₹1,030 in cash.
Interrogation of all the accused is underway and further legal action is being taken.
