Mumbai, 04 June (HS): Minister for Forests Ganesh Naik emphasized the
need for using Artificial Intelligence technology to save villagers from wild
animal attacks. The technology should be used in the buffer zones with the installation of cameras. Naik said that the measures to prevent man-animal
conflict should be undertaken on a war footing.
Naik convened a meeting of Forest Department
officials in Mumbai. Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Minister of
State Ashish Jaiswal, and other senior officials were present.
Fencing, making trenches, and other preventive
measures should be carried out immediately. Naik expressed concern over increasing
attacks by wild animals on villagers. He directed the Forest officials to submit a proposal for employing one person from the affected families in government service.
The meeting was called as attacks by tigers on
villagers are increasing in the Vidarbha region. Naik also suggested that the help of
social organisations can be taken to reduce the man-animal conflict.
