Guwahati: Two notorious drug peddlers arrested by Bashistha police with a truck and 295.5 grams of heroin.


Guwahati, 4 June (HS): Guwahati's Bashisht police arrested two notorious drug peddlers involved in drug smuggling case on Wednesday. Police said that based on an intelligence input, a naka checking was conducted by the Bashisht police team at Lalmati, NH-27 this morning under the leadership of OC Inspector Kapil Pathak.

During the search of a truck (AS-01LC-1253) going from Shillong to Guwahati, suspected heroin was recovered in 22 soap boxes. The weight of the recovered heroin without soap boxes was estimated to be 295.5 grams. Police recovered two mobile handsets during the operation.

In this case, the police have arrested two peddlers. They have been identified as Sanowar Hussain (35, Bongaigaon) and Rubial Mian (24, Bashisht). The cost of the seized heroin is estimated to be more than one crore rupees. The police have registered an FIR under the NDPS Act and are investigating the matter.
