Burdwan, 4 June (H.S.): The CPI(M) is targeting Trinamool while echoing BJP's views on infiltration. They claim that the ruling party is sheltering infiltrators for vote bank. However, a Bangladeshi arrested from Burdwan on Tuesday has exposed CPI(M). A Bangladeshi named Mohammad Shafikul Sardar was arrested by the police from Telipukur. While being taken to the court, he told in front of the camera that he came to Burdwan in 2001. In 2008, a CPI(M) leader got his ration card made. Later he also helped him in getting a PAN card made. He got a driving license by showing the PAN card.

On Wednesday, police sources said that the 38-year-old youth has been living illegally in Burdwan for 24 years. Earlier he used to work in a hotel. Later he started driving a truck. He used to go to different states with the truck from Burdwan. During interrogation, the arrested person said that he came to this country through brokers. He also goes to Bangladesh many times. Additional Superintendent of Police Ark Banerjee said that the arrested youth could not show any valid documents. He has admitted that he is a resident of Bangladesh. Police sources also said that the police have started action against illegal intruders in the state. If someone is living in the area suspiciously, he comes under the purview of police investigation. Earlier, the East Burdwan District Police had arrested some Bangladeshis. Many of them had come to this country during the Left rule. They had got legal documents made with the help of CPI (M) leaders at that time. It is alleged that many people had come to the state illegally even during the Trinamool era. However, the youth arrested from Burdwan has made it clear that the one-sided allegations made by the CPI (M) leaders are not true.

CPI (M) District Committee member Haradhan Ghosh said that the police should take action against those who have come to the state illegally. Who is instigating them to do so should also be investigated. But, those who have been living here for many years should not be harassed.

Trinamool leader Debu Tudu said that infiltrators came to the state during the rule of CPM. Now they are spreading other rumours. Their leaders have got voter cards made for infiltrators by taking money. The police is keeping an eye on them. Police sources also said that those who have valid documents to stay in the country are not being told anything. But action is being taken against those who are showing everything as fake.
