Murshidabad, 4 June (H.S.): Godhanpada Rural Hospital of Raninagar in Murshidabad district has been accused of electricity theft. Allegedly, electricity is being stolen in broad daylight by hooking with open wires. On the other hand, the hospital administration said that they did not know anything about this.
Shamim Akhtar, BMH of Raninagar (2) block said, Only an electrician can tell. I do not know. We do not even know where the hooking has been done. We are investigating the matter.
The hospital is located next to Raninagar police station. Apart from various areas of Raninagar, this hospital is the primary treatment provider for the people of Nabipur, Katlamari, Hurshi, Amirabad and the surrounding area. At present both internal and external departments are operational in the hospital. After entering the hospital on Tuesday afternoon, a toilet was seen on walking a little further on the road in front of the emergency department. Next to it, it was noticed that two wires were connected to an open electric wire. That wire had again entered the hospital. Why was that wire connected? What is happening with the electricity taken from that wire? So are the various electrical equipment of the hospital running on stolen electricity? The hospital management did not have any clear answers to these questions. Dipankar Vishwas, divisional manager of Domkal Mahakama Electricity Department, said, The hospital has a government connection. If something like this has happened then we will investigate the matter and take action. Domkal SDO Shubhankar Bala said, We were not aware of the matter. We will investigate it and take action.
