Kolkata, 4 June (H.S.) —West Bengal is witnessing a fresh spike in COVID-19 cases, raising concerns about a possible resurgence of the virus in the state. According to the latest data released on Wednesday by the state Health and Family Welfare Department, 60 new infections were reported in the past 24 hours.
With this, the total number of active COVID-19 cases in the state has climbed to 432.
The Health Ministry also confirmed that 28 patients recovered during the same period. Notably, no new deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, and the overall death toll remains unchanged at one.
However, authorities have expressed concern after a Kolkata resident became the state’s first COVID-19 fatality this year just a day earlier. The sudden rise in cases and the recent death have reignited fears of a potential resurgence of the pandemic in the region.
Health officials have urged the public to remain cautious and follow standard safety protocols, especially in urban areas where the risk of transmission is higher.
