Mumbai, 04 June (HS): Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar
Bawankule warned that action will be taken against Forest Department officials if they fail to
prevent attacks by wild animals on human beings.
Bawankule was addressing a meeting with Forest Department officials
convened by Forest Minister Ganesh Naik. Minister of State for Finance Ashish
Jaiswal, MLA Parinay Phuke, and senior Forest officials were present.
Directions to prevent the attacks were issued earlier, too, but they were not taken seriously. The required funds can be made available from the District Planning Committee. He also advised using modern technology and submitting proposals to the Chief Secretary.
Ganesh Naik said paying compensation is not the solution. The life lost
cannot be given back to the affected family. He also suggested that buying land
adjoining the forest reserves or shifting wild animals to private zoos can also
be considered.
