Jalpaiguri, 4 June (H.S.)

West Bengal will no longer have to depend on Punjab for potato seeds. This time, advanced potato seeds are being produced in the state itself. It is believed that this will give more yield to the farmers of West Bengal at a lower cost. West Bengal Agriculture Minister Shobhandeb Chatterjee said this after reaching Jalpaiguri on Wednesday. On this day, he also visited Mohitnagar Farm in Jalpaiguri. Later he also held a meeting with the officials. The Agriculture Minister said that before the year 2030, Bengal will become 100 percent self-sufficient in the production of high quality potato seeds. He also said that potato seeds are being produced at three places in the state, Medinipur, Nadia and Jalpaiguri.
