Bankura chairman comes to the field after dengue larvae confirmed in the SUDA report

Bankura, 4 June (H.S.): Bankura Municipality has become active after the news of larvae of mosquitoes spreading dengue being found in the survey of the State Urban Development Agency (SUDA). The chairman herself came to the field to remove the stagnant water. However, the BJP called it a 'drama'.

On Wednesday, the chairman of Bankura municipality herself went door to door to remove the stagnant water. BJP leader of the area Debashish Dutta has termed this initiative of the municipality as a drama.

Notably, a few years ago, dengue took the form of an epidemic in Ward No. 19 of Bankura Municipality. Bankura Municipality and the District Health Department had to work hard to control dengue. Since then, Bankura Municipality makes special preparations to control dengue every year before the monsoon. This year, before the onset of monsoon, SUDA had launched a survey on dengue in the Bankura Municipality area. Samples of stagnant water and mosquito larvae in stagnant water were collected from various areas were sent for testing. Recently, SUDA submitted a report to the Bankura Municipality. The report mentions the presence of larvae of dengue-spreading mosquitoes in the Chatpukur area of Ward No. 20 of Bankura.

Two dengue patients have already been found in wards 10 and 15 of the city. After that, the Bankura Municipality has taken action. On Wednesday morning, Bankura municipality chairman Alka Sen Majumdar went to the Chatpukur area of Ward 20 with her team. She went from house to house and pumped out the stagnant water herself. The municipality seized unclaimed tires and unused containers.

The chairman claimed that the municipality is ready in every way to control the dengue infection before the monsoon. That is why this special campaign is being run. However, BJP says that the municipality should have taken measures much before the monsoon. But instead of doing so, the municipality is now doing drama in the name of campaign in the area. All this is being done for show.
