Murshidabad, 4 June (H.S.): A BSF jawan entered Bangladesh while chasing a goat. Bangladeshis caught the jawan. Later the locals handed him over to the Border Guard of Bangladesh. Allegedly, the locals beat up the BSF jawan. However, the jawan was later returned to the BSF.
As per information, the name of the BSF jawan is Shri Ganesh. The incident took place at around 7.30 am on Wednesday in Sat Russia village of Narayanpur Union of Sadar Upazila of Bangladesh. Locals alleged that two BSF jawans crossed the zero line and entered Bangladesh while chasing a goat in the morning. They also tried to catch a Bangladeshi. After this, local villagers gathered and caught a BSF jawan. They allegedly beat him up. The video made by the locals went viral on social media. The other jawan ran away. Later they handed over Shri Ganesh to the BGB.
The arrest was confirmed by Lieutenant Colonel Fahad Mahmud Rinku, Commander of Champainawabganj Battalion 53 BGB. Benazir Ali, the concerned Ward UP member, said, It is true that the locals have caught a BSF jawan. This incident happened in my neighboring village. Narayanpur Union President Mohammad Nazir Hussain confirmed the matter and said, Saat Russia village is close to the zero line of the border. Therefore, Bangladeshi goats go near the zero line and eat grass. Because of this, BSF jawans came to catch the goat and entered Bangladesh. At that time, the local residents tied him to a banana tree. Later he was handed over to the BGB. Another BSF jawan who was with him escaped.
In this regard, the BSF said that a shepherd had entered Indian territory from the Indo-Bangladesh border area. When the BSF jawans posted on duty at that time chased him, the BSF jawan of the 71st Nurpur Battalion entered Bangladesh. The Indian jawan was arrested by the BGB there. However, the jawan of the 71st Battalion was handed over to the BSF through a flag meeting.
