Mumbai, 03 June (HS): The Maharashtra Government would
consider extending compensation to the farmers affected by the unseasonal rains.
The farmers faced huge losses as the harvested crops were destroyed due to the
rains. The assurance was given by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis during a
cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
Fadnavis reviewed the losses due to the unseasonal
rains, due to early onset of monsoon. He also sought information about damage
caused to houses during heavy rains on May 27, and directed the authorities to immediately
extend help to the affected people. Rs 49 crore were immediately disbursed for
the purpose, which includes Rs 5 crore for Konkan Division, Rs 12 crore for
Pune Division, Rs 5 crore for Nashik, Rs 12 crore for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar,
Rs 5 crore for Amravati, and Rs 10 crore for Nagpur Division.
The compensation in 2025 and the future will be
based on the parameters set on March 27, 2023, and the notification issued on
January 1, 2024.
Fadnavis also directed to submit a proposal for the
losses suffered by fishermen. The issue was raised by Forest Minister Ganesh
Naik and Minister for Ports Development Nitesh Rane.Fadnavis also directed the authorities to
plan repair works of the damaged roads and bridges.
