Jammu, 27 June (H.S.): The workers of Power Development Department, PDL/TDL/JPDCL today went on indefinite strike and held strong protest demonstration followed by day-long dharna in the office complex of Managing Director, JPDCL on Railway Road here today.
Under the banner of All J&K PDD, PDL, TDL and Other Workers Union led by Akhil Sharma the workers went on indefinite strike/protest today (June 26) against pending financial concurrence for regularisation, despite approval by BOD JPDCL.
PDL/TDL workers from various parts of Jammu Province working in various Corporations of unbundled Power Development Department since last 25 years, assembled in the office complex of MD JPDCL today morning and started protest demonstration, carrying banners and placards in their hands. They were shouting slogans in support of their demands and also against the PDD authorities for causing delay in resolving their issues.
The leaders while addressing large gathering came down heavily on the Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Ltd management for not being able to expedite the sanction of Financial Concurrence from Finance Department as per the decision of regularisation of PDL/ TDL conveyed by Board of Directors of JPDCL, according to the Regularisation Rules dully vetted by Law Department. These rules were framed three years back for the regularisation of PDL/TDL and other workers of PDD.
They alleged that the Government has not released the pending wages of several years of the PDL/ TDL and other workers of PDD. The PDL/ TDL workers have stopped working from today. They claimed that responsibility of power outage shall fall solely on the JPDCL management. They further said that authorities have forgot that the PDL/ TDL and other workers of PDD have given sacrifices and blood to this power sector but are denied financial concurrence despite Board of Directors of JPDCL having approved the proposal of 557 daily rated workers as per the Regularisation Rules dully vetted by Law Department and notified after Concurrence by the Administrative Department.
