
Rudraprayag/Guptkashi, June 18 (H.S.): A landslide near Junglechatti on the Kedarnath Dham route resulted in the deaths of two palki workers and injuries to three others on Wednesday. The incident occurred around 11:20 AM when debris fell suddenly, affecting many dandi-kandi operators and pilgrims, with some tumbling into the gorge. Rescue teams, including NDRF, SDRF, police, and DDRF, quickly responded, extracting the injured and administering first aid before transporting them to Gaurikund hospital.
Among the injured, Sandeep Kumar (22) suffered leg and lower back injuries, while Nitin Manhas (16) sustained minor hand scratches. Akash Chitariya (40), a pilgrim from Gujarat, is also receiving treatment. The deceased were identified as Nitin Kumar and Chandrashekhar, both from Jammu and Kashmir. Authorities have committed to ensuring proper care for the injured.
