Dhubri (Assam), 13 June (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, who visited Dhubri district adjacent to the India-Bangladesh international border in lower Assam on Friday, was very angry over the incident of throwing beef in the Hanuman temple of the district town on the second day of Bakrid. He said that shoot and sight will be implemented at night against the anti-social elements trying to disturb Dhubri.
Talking to the media during the temple tour, the Chief Minister said that a new beef mafia has emerged in Dhubri, which has purchased thousands of animals just before Eid. Investigation is going on and the culprits will be put behind bars.
He said that what happened in Dhubri during Bakrid? And how are we dealing with this situation?, it is in front of everyone. We are fully committed to enforce law and order in the district and deal with all communal forces.
During the visit, the Chief Minister interacted with the members of the temple management committee and also directed the District Commissioner and District Superintendent of Police to take necessary steps to maintain the security of the temple and law and order in the area. The Chief Minister was accompanied by Assam Police Director General of Police (DGP) Harmeet Singh, Dhubri District Commissioner, District Superintendent of Police as well as other officials.
After the temple visit, the Chief Minister shared a post on social media and said, I visited Dhubri and instructed the law enforcement officials to follow zero tolerance against the elements desecrating our temples, Namghars and holy places. He has said, The incident of throwing beef in the Hanuman temple of the city should never have happened and those involved in it will not be spared.
It is known that suspicious beef was recovered from this Hanuman temple on the day after Bakrid. Since then, an unpleasant situation had arisen in the area. The Dhubri district administration had decided to implement Section 163 (A) of the Indian Penal Code to control law and order.
