
Ahmedabad, 13 June (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a review meeting at Ahmedabad airport following the Air India plane crash. He assessed the situation on-site after the Al-171 flight, which was en route to London Gatwick, crashed shortly after takeoff. PM Modi on 'X' expressed his sorrow over the devastation, emphasizing his condolences for the victims' families and commending the efforts of rescue teams. Accompanied by Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu and State Home Minister Harsh Sanghay, he later visited the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital to meet injured individuals.
In separate posts on X, PM Modi stated:
“Met those injured in the aftermath of the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad, including the lone survivor and assured them that we are with them and their families in this tough time. The entire nation is praying for their speedy recovery.”
“Chaired a review meeting at Ahmedabad Airport with top authorities.”
Earlier Union Home Minister Amit Shah provided updates, indicating that survival was impossible due to the aircraft's extensive fuel fire, which consumed nearly 125,000 liters. He mentioned that the definitive death toll would be confirmed post-DNA tests, with around 1,000 tests already conducted. Shah also visited the crash site, reinforcing the grim nature of the incident to the media.
