Bhubaneswar, 13 June (H.S.): Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced a significant increase in the daily duty and training allowance for Civil Defence Volunteers in the state. The move is aimed at recognising the valuable services rendered by these volunteers and encouraging more youth to join the civil defence force.
According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office, the daily duty allowance has been increased from ₹31 to ₹150, while the daily training allowance has been raised from ₹28 to ₹140. The revised allowances will be applicable retrospectively from May 1, 2025.
Currently, Odisha has fewer than 700 Civil Defence Volunteers. The Chief Minister expressed hope that this increase in allowances would motivate more citizens to enroll as volunteers, thereby strengthening the state’s disaster management and emergency response capabilities.
