Sribhumi (Assam), 12 June (HS): Sribhumi District Sadar Police succeeded in seizing a large quantity of banned Yaba tablets. With this, a drug peddler has also been arrested by the police. Police informed that on the basis of a secret information late last night, a large police team led by DSP Manas Pratim Choudhury seized 30,000 Yaba tablets from Telikhal area of Kaliganj road.

According to the police, the market value of this banned Yaba tablet is estimated to be around ₹5 crore. The drugs were being supplied from Kaliganj to Sribhumi by hiding them in the secret chamber of an Ignis car (ML-05W-6324). On the way, the police stopped the vehicle and conducted a search operation and succeeded in seizing the banned drugs.

According to the information received, Alam, who smuggled the drugs, is originally a resident of Kanishail in Sribhumi district. Police have registered an FIR in this regard and are interrogating the accused.
