Kolkata, 12 June (H.S.) — The West Bengal Legislative Assembly is set to publish a special compilation of select speeches delivered by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on the Assembly floor since she first assumed office in 2011. The publication will highlight key addresses spanning her three consecutive terms as the head of the state government.

Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Asish Banerjee, confirmed that a draft of the compilation has already been prepared and will soon be sent to the Chief Minister for her formal approval. Once approved, the compilation is expected to be released in the upcoming session of the Assembly.

This marks only the second time in the political history of Bengal that a sitting Chief Minister's speeches will be officially documented and published by the Assembly. The first such compilation was of speeches by Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, one of Bengal’s most revered former Chief Ministers.

A senior government official emphasized the significance of this initiative, noting that Mamata Banerjee’s speeches provide insights into landmark social welfare schemes such as ‘Kanyashree’ and ‘Lakshmir Bhandar’, both of which were discussed extensively by the Chief Minister during legislative sessions.

Her political journey, grassroots activism, and policy-driven leadership make her deliberations valuable material for future political research and academic study, the official added.

The Library Committee of the Assembly is overseeing the compilation process, aiming to preserve a vital chapter of Bengal’s contemporary political narrative.
