- Two men, two women and three children caught from hotel in Katigorah
Cachar (Assam), 12 June (HS): Seven Bangladeshi Rohingya citizens have been arrested from Katigorah area of Cachar district amid the government's tough stand against illegal foreigners in Assam.
Police said on Thursday that these people, who entered a hotel located in Chaplai Gate area of Katigara to drink tea, were stopped on suspicion by members of the Sanatan Hindu Organization and the local Gram Rakshak Force and later informed the police.
The arrested people include two men, two women and three small children. In police interrogation, all have identified themselves as Bangladeshis.
According to the police, all of them had entered India illegally in the year 2012 and were living secretly since then. The arrested people have been identified as Mohammad Zubair, Mohammad Rashid, Rafika Bibi and Samsera Bibi. The names of the three children present there have not been disclosed yet.
