South 24 Parganas, 11 June (H.S.) Two 8-year-old girls died by drowning in a pond in Garkhali area of Canning in South 24 Parganas district on Wednesday. According to local sources, deceased are Megha Sardar and Tithi Sardar. Both of them drowned while bathing in the pond before going to school. About half an hour later, the body of one of them seen floating in water. The second body was found after searching in the pond. On information, the police of Canning police station reached the spot and when both the bodies were brought to Canning Government Hospital, the doctors declared them dead. The police have sent both the bodies for post-mortem.
