Chirang (Assam), June 11 (HS): Intense tension spread in the area after a packet full of suspected banned beef was found in the Harimandir premises located in North Ballamguri of Bijni area of Chirang district on Wednesday morning.
Local people saw meat lying in a plastic bag in the temple premises in the morning. People suspected that it could be banned beef. On receiving the information, the team of Ballamguri police station reached the spot and took the packet into their possession.
Local residents allege that some anti-social element has done this objectionable act with the aim of spoiling the communal harmony of the area. People have demanded that the culprits involved in this act should be identified immediately and given severe punishment. --------
