Hooghly, 11 June (H.S.): The bodies of a woman and her daughter were recovered from a house in Hindmotor Bhadrakali area under Uttarpara police station in Hooghly district on Wednesday morning, while a man in critical condition was admitted to Uttarpara State General Hospital. According to police sources, the names of the deceased are Adrija Chatterjee (4) and Payal Chatterjee (35). The name of the injured person is Kashinath Chatterjee. The trio were pulled out of a house in Hindmotor Bhadrakali area today in a blood-soaked condition. Of these, Adrija and Payal were found dead in the room. Payal's husband Kashinath Chatterjee has been admitted to Uttarpara State General Hospital in a seriously injured condition.

According to local sources, 40-year-old Kashinath works in a factory. He was married to Payal about ten years ago. He has two daughters. Family members said that they saw all three of them soaked in blood in the room this morning. Uttarpara police reached the spot on information.

The police initially believes that Kashinath tried to commit suicide after killing his four-year-old daughter and wife with a sharp weapon. Kashinath's seven-year-old elder daughter was sleeping with her grandmother in the next room last night.The police suspect that this is the reason why she survived. Chandannagar Commissionerate Police is investigating whether the incident happened due to family discord. Payal's mother said, My elder granddaughter sleeps with me. Every morning at 7:30 am my son-in-law calls me. Today morning even after 7:30 am he did not call. Then I went to their room and saw the trio lying there. She said that the door was just closed. It opened when pushed.
