DC Reasi inaugurates 3-day Annual Baba Aghar Jitto Mela


Srinagar, 11 June (H.S.): The three-day Annual Baba Aghar Jitto Mela, a vibrant celebration of spiritual devotion, cultural heritage and community participation, was inaugurated today by Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Malik at the scenic village of Aghar Jitto.

The event witnessed an enthusiastic gathering of locals, devotees and tourists. A major attraction of the Mela is the array of departmental stalls set up by various Government departments, including Health, Handicrafts, Horticulture, Agriculture, Social Welfare, Tourism, Animal Husbandry, among others.

The Deputy Commissioner inspected the stalls and appreciated the display of innovative and informative exhibits made by the departments.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said “Reasi is a district rich in cultural traditions and the Baba Aghar Jitto Mela is an integral part of this vibrant heritage. All arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Mela, including security, have been meticulously planned.”

A special awareness programme under the aegis of Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan was also organized by the Department of Agriculture, KVK Reasi, and other line departments.

The event was attended by DDC Councillor Katra Nirmala Devi, SSP Paramvir Singh, ASP Vipin Chandra, SDPO Katra, Tehsildar Katra, AD Tourism Katra, BDO Katra, DIO (Info), Mandir Committee members and other senior officials.

Meanwhile, Nidhi Malik flagged off the Holy Chhari to Mindhal Mata from Nau Deviyan Katra.

The Chhari Yatra will travel from Nau Deviyan in Reasi to Mindal in Himachal via Kishtwar Sol village. SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh, other senior officers and a large number of devotees were also present on the occasion.

The congregation commenced with the chanting of mantras and bhajans, invoking blessings for a safe and successful yatra. The yatra holds deep religious significance and draws a large number of devotees every year who undertake the sacred journey to the holy shrine.
