Darang (Assam), 11 June (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma reached the historic Khatra Satra in Darang district on Wednesday. He was welcomed with traditional singing and music. As per the promise made before the Panchayat elections, the Chief Minister performed Puja-Archana in the Satra today.
The Chief Minister announced that the Kirtan Ghar of Khatra Satra will be rebuilt and 1,000 bighas of agricultural land will be provided by the state government for the economic strength of the Satra. During the program, many folk cultural glimpses of Darang were also presented before the Chief Minister.
Later, after meeting with the officials of the Satra Management Committee, the Chief Minister discussed the new form of Kirtan Ghar and Manikut. He also made some important comments regarding Bangladeshi infiltration and NRC process in the state.
During his visit, the Chief Minister also paid tribute to 140 freedom fighters by visiting the Shaheed Vedi of the historic Patharughat.
