“Union Minister Shri @mansukhmandviya highlights how India's sports infrastructure has expanded at an unprecedented scale in the last 11 years. With youth at its core, this transformation is propelling India towards becoming a global sporting powerhouse.”
India's quest for Viksit Bharat by 2047 positions sports as a key driver. Under PM Narendra Modi, athletes are excelling globally, recently securing 24 medals at the Asian Athletics Championships 2025 and a historic 21 by women wrestlers at the Ulaanbaatar Open. Olympic performance has notably improved, yielding 15 medals and 52 in Paralympics since 2012. Reforms like the Target Olympic Podium Scheme support 213 athletes, with the sports budget tripling in the past decade. Transparency and policies addressing age fraud enhance athlete welfare. The Khelo India Games revive traditional sports and increase participation, while ASMITA League has expanded women's involvement. India's sports infrastructure has surged to 350 projects, with aspirations to host the Commonwealth and Olympic Games by 2036, steering towards a transformative sports era by 2047.
