Delhi, 10 June (H.S.): Former Delhi CM and AAP leader Atishi was detained by police while leading a protest against the demolition drives in Kalkaji’s JJ Cluster. The protest was aimed at halting the eviction of hundreds of residents who were allegedly served notices without rehabilitation plans.

The Aam Aadmi Party has accused the central government and the Delhi LG of acting unilaterally and violating the rights of poor families. Atishi, while being taken into custody, claimed the move was politically motivated and targeted against the party’s support base.

Authorities maintain the drive is legal and based on a court order, but the issue has triggered a fresh round of confrontation between AAP and the BJP-led Centre. Human rights groups have also flagged concerns about the lack of resettlement policy.
