Pune, 31 May (HS): The use of drones in the Pune rural area
has been temporarily banned by the local administration on security grounds.
Prior permission, at least seven days in advance will have to be obtained for
using a drone for any private event.
Given the possibility of the use of drones for surveying
religious and other sensitive places by terrorists, the ban has been imposed.
Many complaints of seeing drones during the night have been received from Baramati,
Dound, and Shirur Tehsils, which has resulted in fear among the residents. The
possibility of sand mafia using drones cannot be ruled out.
Use of drones, remote-controlled micro-light aircraft,
paragliders, paramotors, hang gliders, hot air balloons, and similar objects has
been prohibited without prior permission.
