Dhubri (Assam), 31 May (HS): Advanced quality mobile phones have distributed to the Anganwadi workers of the district in a program organized by the Social Welfare Department in the auditorium of Dhubri District Library on Saturday. This distribution ceremony was held in the presence of Guardian Minister of Dhubri District and Panchayat, Rural Development and Tourism Minister Ranjit Kumar Das.
On this occasion, Dhubri District Deputy Commissioner Diwakar Nath, former MLA of Golakganj Ashwini Rai Sarkar, Dhubri-Gauripur Development Authority Chairman Devjit Kumar Saha, Municipal Council Chairman Devmay Sanyal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Shantana Bora along with departmental officers and a large number of Anganwadi workers were present.
In his address, Deputy Commissioner Diwakar Nath said that the 'Poshan Abhiyan' scheme started from the year 2018 has played an important role in eliminating malnutrition in the country. He informed that there are a total of 2135 Anganwadi centres in the district, where 2067 workers and 1696 assistants are working. Under this campaign, every month about 2.35 lakh beneficiaries including pregnant women, lactating mothers, children of 0-6 years and adolescent girls are taking advantage of various schemes.
The Deputy Commissioner also clarified that the purpose of mobile phone distribution is to promote efficiency and transparency. He said that the 'Poshan Tracker App' is a digital monitoring tool, which helps in real-time data collection, supplementary nutrition distribution and GPS recording related to pregnant women, children and adolescent girls. For this purpose, mobiles are being provided to the workers.
Addressing the program, Minister Ranjit Kumar Das said that the country is developing in all aspects under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that India is being taken forward by providing free bank accounts to the poor, housing to the homeless, fair price of produce to farmers and advanced Anganwadi centers for children.
At the end of the programme, the minister formally distributed mobile phones among the Anganwadi workers.
