Seoul, 31 May (H.S.): A fire erupted in a moving metro train on Line 5 in Seoul, prompting passengers to evacuate to safety. Approximately 400 individuals sought refuge in the tunnel. A 60-year-old man was arrested for starting the fire, apprehended near Yeoinaru station with a gasoline can and lighter. The incident happened between Yeoinaru and Mapo station. Yeongdeungpo police are investigating the suspect's motives. Evacuating passengers was challenging, with some sustaining minor injuries and experiencing smoke inhalation; 21 were hospitalized for evaluation. The fire was extinguished by 10:24 AM, and services on Line 5 resumed after a temporary suspension.
