Eight Maoists surrender to Telangana police

Hyderabad, 31 May (H.S.): Eight members of the outlawed CPI (Maoists) surrendered to the police in Mulugu district, Telangana, on May 31. This group included a divisional committee member and two area committee members from Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh. In total, 355 Maoists have surrendered to Telangana police this year, with 68 from Mulugu District alone. The surrender was motivated by the welfare measures offered by the Telangana government, prompting them to abandon Naxalism for a peaceful life.

Armed cadres remain active along the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border, with residents advised to avoid cooperation and report any Maoist activity. Additionally, 17 Maoists from Chhattisgarh also surrendered to the CRPF in Bhadradri Kothagudem, which included two Area Committee Members among the group of 17.
