Gangtok, May 30 (H.S.): A major road accident occurred in North Sikkim late Thursday night when a taxi carrying 11 tourists fell into the Teesta River from a height of 1,000 feet. Two people have been rescued in serious condition and hospitalized, while others remain missing.

The incident happened on the Chungthang-Munshithang road, prompting immediate relief and rescue operations involving the local administration, Sikkim Police, Indian Army, ITBP, and local residents. The remote location is hindering search efforts, and the identification of the passengers is still pending.
