New Delhi, May 30(HS): The Patiala House Court in Delhi has resolved the criminal defamation case filed by wrestling coach Naresh Dahiya against wrestler Bajrang Punia. Metropolitan Magistrate Yashdeep Chahal disposed of the case after receiving information about an agreement between Naresh Dahiya and Bajrang Punia. In this case, the court granted bail to Bajrang Punia on November 9, 2023. The court had issued a summons to Bajrang Punia under Sections 499 and 500 of the Indian Penal Code for criminal defamation.

Coach Naresh Dahiya had stated in his petition that Bajrang Punia had made fabricated allegations against him during a press conference at Jantar Mantar on May 10, 2023. These allegations were an attempt to tarnish his image. The petition mentioned that some female wrestlers were sitting in protest with Bajrang Punia. These female wrestlers had demanded action against the president of the Indian Wrestling Federation and BJP MP Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, alleging sexual harassment. An FIR has also been registered against Brijbhushan Sharan Singh in this matter.

The Patiala House Court has closed the case related to sexual harassment involving a minor female wrestler under POCSO against former BJP MP Brijbhushan Sharan Singh. The Delhi Police had filed a closure report in the Patiala House Court, after which the court closed the case against Brijbhushan Sharan Singh following the statement of the minor female wrestler.
