Delhi, 29 May (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to embark on a four-state-Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, today and Uttar Pradesh tomorrow. On May 29th, he will kick off his tour in Sikkim at 11 AM, participating in the statehood anniversary event “Sikkim@50: Where Progress meets purpose and nature nurtures growth.” The event, celebrating 50 years since Sikkim gained statehood with the theme “Sunaulo, Samriddha and Samarth Sikkim,” will showcase Sikkim's rich culture and natural beauty. During this visit, Modi will inaugurate a new 500-bedded District Hospital in Namchi and a Passenger Ropeway in Pelling. He will also unveil a statue of Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Gangtok, along with issuing commemorative coins and stamps.
Later that day in West Bengal at 2:15 PM, he will lay the foundation stone for a CGD project worth over Rs 1010 crore to supply Piped Natural Gas to households and businesses. At 5:45 PM, he will inaugurate the new terminal building at Patna Airport in Bihar.
On May 30th, he will inaugurate, lay the foundation stone and dedicate to the nation multiple development projects worth over Rs 48,520 crore in Karakat, Bihar. He will also address a public function.He will also focus on improving infrastructure, such as highway four-laning and a new Ganga bridge. In Uttar Pradesh, he will further enhance regional infrastructure by inaugurating parts of the Kanpur Metro Rail Project and initiating road widening on G.T. Road, as well as launching new substations to meet increasing power demands.
The Prime Minister is poised to announce major energy and infrastructure projects in Uttar Pradesh, highlighted by the expansion of the Panki Thermal Power Project in Kanpur by 660 MW, with an investment of over Rs 8,300 crore, and the addition of three more 660 MW units at the Ghatampur Thermal Power Project, totaling more than Rs 9,330 crore. These developments aim to bolster regional power capacity. To facilitate logistics for the Panki Thermal Power Project, new rail overbridges will be inaugurated to enhance coal and oil transport and alleviate local traffic congestion.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister will unveil a 40 MLD Tertiary Treatment Plant in Bingawan, which will cost over Rs 290 crore and focus on reusing treated sewage water for conservation purposes. Infrastructure enhancements will also include the laying of the foundation stone for the widening of Gauria Pali Marg and the conversion of a road linking Narwal Mode to the Kanpur Defence Node into a four-lane road under the Defence Corridor initiative to improve connectivity.
In addition, beneficiaries of several welfare schemes, such as the PM Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojana, will receive assistance aimed at uplifting community standards. Overall, these initiatives signify a substantial investment in energy, water management, and infrastructure, aimed at promoting regional economic growth and enhancing the quality of life for residents.
