New Delhi, May 29 (H.S.): The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for the City Gas Distribution (CGD) project on Thursday in the Alipurduar and Cooch Behar districts of West Bengal. The project has a cost of over ₹1,010 crores. Its aim is to provide piped natural gas (PNG) to more than 250,000 homes. It will also benefit over 100 commercial establishments and industries.
Under this project, approximately 19 CNG stations will be established, making compressed natural gas (CNG) available for vehicles. The Prime Minister stated that this project will not only ensure clean and safe gas supply but will also generate employment opportunities.
He remarked that the development of Bengal is the foundation of India's future. Today is the day to add another strong brick to that foundation. The Prime Minister mentioned that this project is not just about pipeline work, but it is an example of the government's 'doorstep delivery' of its schemes.
He added that the land of Alipurduar is associated with various cultures. The commencement of this important project on this rich land will lead to the region's development.
