New Delhi, May 29(HS): The National Cyber Forensic Laboratory (NCFL) has requested 20 days from the Delhi High Court to investigate discrepancies in scorecards of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main exam. Justice Vikas Mahajan directed the NCFL to carry out an inquiry and propose a solution, with the next hearing scheduled for May 30. The High Court issued a notice to the National Testing Agency (NTA) concerning a petition by an Indian student in Muscat, Oman, alleging scorecard discrepancies. The student’s scorecards, from exams on January 23 and April 2, showed conflicting percentiles—one slightly above 55 and the other above 89.

The NTA responded that the valid percentile is above 55 and deemed the higher scorecard as fake, forwarding it to the Unfair Means Committee (UFM). The petition asserts the UFM did not investigate or give the petitioner a chance to present their case. After participating in the April 2 exam, the petitioner received a scorecard indicating a UFM mark and was marked ineligible for the years 2025-26 and 2026-27. The petition emphasizes that the NTA wrongfully imposed a two-year ban without proper investigation, citing the generation of multiple scorecards when a candidate applies multiple times, though the petitioner only filed one application.
