Delhi, 28 May (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh on May 29th and 30th. On May 29th, he will arrive in Sikkim for the statehood anniversary event titled “Sikkim@50: Where Progress meets purpose and nature nurtures growth,” at 11 AM, celebrating 50 years of statehood under the theme “Sunaulo, Samriddha and Samarth Sikkim.” The event will highlight Sikkim’s culture and natural beauty, during which he will inaugurate a new 500-bedded District Hospital in Namchi and a Passenger Ropeway in Pelling, alongside unveiling a statue of Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Gangtok and issuing commemorative coins and stamps.
Later, in West Bengal at 2:15 PM, he will lay the foundation for a CGD project worth over Rs 1010 crore to provide Piped Natural Gas to households and commercial entities. At 5:45 PM, he will inaugurate the new terminal building at Patna Airport in Bihar. On May 30th, he will return to Bihar to dedicate development projects worth over Rs 48,520 crore in Karakat and conclude his tour in Uttar Pradesh by laying the foundation for projects valued at around Rs 20,900 crore in Kanpur Nagar, emphasizing infrastructure and economic growth.
Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to inaugurate a new passenger terminal at Patna Airport on April 29, featuring modern facilities and a capacity for 1 crore passengers, with a development cost of around Rs 1200 crore. Additionally, he will lay the foundation stone for a new civil enclave at Bihta Airport, representing over Rs 1410 crore in investments, serving Bihta, an emerging educational hub with IIT Patna and a proposed NIT campus. On May 30, he will also inaugurate and lay foundations for projects in Karakat valued at over Rs 48,520 crore, including the Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project (Stage-II) with an investment of Rs 29,930 crore, enhancing energy security in Bihar and eastern India. Key infrastructure improvements will also be addressed, including the Four-Laning of significant highways and a new Ganga bridge, improving trade and connectivity. Further, he will dedicate railway projects, including a 3rd Rail Line between Son Nagar and Mohammad Ganj, valued at Rs 1330 crore. In Uttar Pradesh, he will inaugurate portions of the Kanpur Metro Rail Project and initiate road widening along G.T. Road, along with launching new substations to meet rising power demands, enhancing regional infrastructure.
The Prime Minister is set to announce significant energy and infrastructure projects in Uttar Pradesh. This includes a 660 MW expansion of the Panki Thermal Power Project in Kanpur with an investment exceeding Rs 8,300 crore, and three additional 660 MW units at the Ghatampur Thermal Power Project, totaling over Rs 9,330 crore. These initiatives will enhance regional power capacity. To support logistics for the Panki Thermal Power Project, new rail overbridges will be inaugurated to improve coal and oil transport and ease local traffic congestion.
Moreover, the Prime Minister will inaugurate a 40 MLD Tertiary Treatment Plant in Bingawan, costing over Rs 290 crore, aimed at reusing treated sewage water for conservation efforts. Infrastructure development will also include the foundation stone laying for the widening of Gauria Pali Marg and the transformation of a road connecting Narwal Mode to the Kanpur Defence Node into a four-lane road under the Defence Corridor initiative, enhancing connectivity.
Additionally, beneficiaries of various welfare schemes, including the PM Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojana, will receive support to uplift community standards. Overall, these initiatives reflect a substantial investment in energy, water management, and infrastructure to stimulate regional economic growth and improve residents' quality of life.
