The grateful nation can never forget the saga of his indomitable courage and struggle in the freedom movement. His sacrifice and dedication to the country will continue to guide the creation of a Viksit Bharat, he added.

Born on May 28, 1883, Veer Savarkar was an early political activist, advocating for the Swadeshi movement and the boycott of foreign goods, urging revolution for independence. PM Modi shared a video tribute, highlighting Savarkar's unique blend of intellect and revolutionary spirit.

Reflecting on Savarkar’s imprisonment at Cellular Jail, where he was sentenced to 50 years for opposing colonial reforms, PM Modi emphasized the profound emotional connection to Savarkar's legacy. After his release in 1924, Savarkar championed the abolition of untouchability. He also opposed the Congress Party's acceptance of India's partition, firmly standing for unity.
