Delhi, 28 May (H.S.): The Rules under the Inter-Services Organisations (Command, Control and Discipline) Act 2023 have been officially published and will take effect on May 27, 2025, enhancing the command, control, and effective operation of Inter-Services Organisations (ISOs) to promote jointness among the Armed Forces. The Bill, passed by Parliament during the Monsoon Session of 2023, received Presidential assent on August 15, 2023, with the Act commencing on May 10, 2024. ISOs were subsequently recognized via a Gazette Notification on December 27, 2024.
The Act grants Commanders-in-Chief and Officers-in-Command authority over service personnel, maintaining discipline without changing the unique service conditions of each armed branch. The newly established subordinate Rules, aligned with Section 11 of the Act, are pivotal for implementing the law's provisions, facilitating effective administration and operational coordination while reducing procedural redundancies. Thus, the Act is now fully operational, empowering ISO leadership to manage disciplinary cases efficiently.
