Delhi, 28 May (H.S.): Former minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, part of an all-party delegation, has been hospitalized and is under medical supervision, as reported by BJP MP Baijayant Jay Panda.
Taking to X, Panda said, “Halfway into our delegation's tour, Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad has had to be admitted to hospital. He is stable, under medical supervision, and will be undergoing some tests and procedures . His contributions to the meetings in Bahrain and Kuwait were highly impactful, and he is disappointed at being bedridden. We will deeply miss his presence in Saudi Arabia and Algeria.
In a social media post on X on Tuesday, Azad confirmed the same, further informing that he is recovering well.
The delegation, which arrived in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, is engaging with various political figures, government officials, and the Indian community to discuss issues, including terrorism. While in Kuwait, the delegation emphasized India's firm stance against terrorism, a message that Panda was committed to conveying during their meetings in Saudi Arabia. The team received a warm welcome from Maj. Gen. Abdulrahman Alharbi, Chair of the India-Saudi Arabia Friendship Committee of the Shura Council. This multi-party delegation, which includes BJP and AIMIM MPs, aims to counter global misinformation and reinforce India's zero-tolerance policy on terrorism. Despite his health setback, Azad's involvement in the meetings prior to his hospitalization was praised.
