Delhi, 28 May (H.S.): In an ongoing crackdown on contraband drug smuggling in the North Eastern Region, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), aided by 19 BN Assam Rifles, intercepted a truck in Noney, Manipur on May 21, 2025, seizing 569 grams of heroin and 1,039 grams of methamphetamine tablets hidden in a specially fabricated cavity. Another operation on May 22, at Aloicherra, Hailakandi District, Assam, resulted in the seizure of 2,640.53 grams of heroin, also concealed in a customized cavity. The drugs, valued at Rs. 23.5 crore, led to four arrests. In total, DRI has seized contraband worth Rs. 173 crore and arrested 26 individuals this year.
