Delhi, 28 May (H.S.): The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has sanctioned the construction of the 4-Lane Badvel-Nellore Corridor, measuring 108.134 km, at a cost of Rs. 3653.10 crore in Andhra Pradesh on NH-67 via Design-Build-Finance-Operate-Transfer (DBFOT) mode. This corridor will enhance connectivity to significant nodes in three Industrial Corridors: Kopparthy Node on the Vishakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor, Orvakal Node on the Hyderabad-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor, and Krishnapatnam Node on the Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor, positively affecting the country's Logistic Performance Index (LPI).
The corridor stretches from Gopavaram Village in YSR Kadapa District to Krishnapatnam Port Junction on NH-16 in SPSR Nellore District, reducing the distance to Krishnapatnam port by 33.9 km and travel time by one hour. Furthermore, it is expected to generate approximately 20 lakh man-days of direct employment and 23 lakh man-days of indirect employment, fostering increased economic activity along its route.
