Three people from Mizoram chargesheeted for supplying weapons to Manipur militants

Guwahati, 27 May (HS): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a supplementary chargesheet against three people from Mizoram for supplying illegal arms, ammunition and explosive materials to militant organizations in Manipur.

NIA official sources said on Tuesday that the accused have been identified as Vanlaldailova, Lalmuanpuia and Lalrinchunga alias Albert. They were arrested on December 6, 2024 during a coordinated search operation conducted at their residences, in which a large quantity of illegal arms and explosive materials were recovered.

The NIA investigation has revealed that these three accused were an active part of the illegal arms network and played an important role in promoting the ongoing ethnic violence in Manipur. The weapons supplied by them were allegedly given to several militant organizations, which are active in the violence-affected areas.

The investigating agency said that the activities of the accused not only increased tension in the region but also harmed the efforts to restore peace.

The NIA has filed a chargesheet against them under sections of the Indian Penal Code, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and Arms Act. The agency has reiterated its commitment to eliminate organized crime and terrorism-related activities in Northeast India.
