Chandigarh, May 27 (HS): Praveen Mittal, a businessman from Dehradun, Uttarakhand, took his life with six family members in Panchkula, Haryana, with a suicide note found at the scene. The family had faced financial difficulties, stemming from losses in Praveen's tour and travel business, which caused distress.
On Monday night, they listened to a religious discourse by Dhirendra Shastri and later ingested poison in their car near Sector 27 around 11:00 PM. Passersby alerted the police about the parked car, leading to a swift response from authorities. Six family members were rushed to a private hospital, where they were pronounced dead, while Praveen was taken to a government hospital, where he was also declared dead. The deceased include Praveen's father, mother, wife, two daughters, and one son. DCP Himadri Kaushik and forensic officials arrived at the scene as investigations indicated that financial strain contributed to the tragedy.
